Join us for a spirited walking tour of the Vancouver Barracks with Jeff Davis, author of “Weird Washington.” The Vancouver Barracks was established in 1849, and was the first U.S. Army base on the Pacific Coast north of California. Discover the folklore and oddity of Vancouver’s oldest neighborhood. Content is appropriate for ages 12+.

Please Note: This tour will take place rain or shine and lasts approximately 90 minutes. Please dress for the weather, wear comfortable shoes, and be physically able to walk one mile.

Local veteran and author, Jeff Davis will be conducting walking tours of the Vancouver Barracks this summer, with a narrative depicting the darker side of life on the historic US Army post. Spirit Tales of the Vancouver Barracks start Friday, July 7 and run through September 4th.

The 90-minute tour was designed by Davis, who served at the Vancouver Barracks for many years, and has firsthand experience with both the spooky and ordinary history of the Vancouver Barracks. The Vancouver Barracks was founded in 1849. Members of the United States military served there until 2011. "In those years, thousands of service members and their families, civilians, and prisoners walked its grounds. They left their mark on the land and the buildings, leaving behind many memories," said Davis, "Whether you believe in ghosts or not, you will be interested in the stories of the Vancouver Barracks' past inhabitants. What is true and what is legend is for you to decide."
