Independence Day at Fort Vancouver was a HUGE success in 2016 with a new renewed focus on the community, family friendly entertainment, and a spectacular fireworks show launched from Pearson Air Field. This success is due, in large part, to the generous support from partners, corporations, and individuals. Over 35,000 community members from across the region attended Independence Day at Fort Vancouver presented by Bank of America and we anticipate an equal or greater crowd for 2017. The Fort Vancouver National Trust would like to thank our committed sponsors.

LOUGH LEGACY VETERANS PARADE  Logo VeteransParade NOYEAR

The Veterans Parade at Fort Vancouver was started in 1986 by a group of volunteers led by Mike Harding, who recognized a need in our community for a way to honor Clark County veterans and knew that a Veterans Parade would fulfill that need.

The Fort Vancouver National Trust is now honored to host this parade, which is one of the largest Department of Veteran Affairs sanctioned Veterans Parades on the West Coast. The parade is held annually on the Saturday before Veterans Day. Parade route runs west along Officers Row, south on Fort Vancouver Way through the barracks, and east on 5th street past the Fort and Pearson Air Museum.

GENERAL GEORGE C. MARSHALL LECTURES - Presented by RIVERVIEW COMMUNITY BANK

Riverview Bank Logo

The Marshall Lecture is the cornerstone event of Celebrate Freedom. The Marshall Lecture honors the character and principles of General George C. Marshall, who served at Vancouver Barracks as Commander of the 5th Infantry Brigade from 1936 to 1938. Lectures focus on three phases of Marshall’s career: his time in Vancouver, his achievements as a military leader, and the impact of his work as Secretary of State. In 1953, Marshall received the Nobel Peace Prize, the only professional soldier ever so honored. The award recognized the Marshall Plan, which provided an alternative to totalitarianism, and gave Europe’s countries the economic strength by which they might choose freedom.

Lectures are held at Hudson's Bay High School for local highschool students in the area. These lectures are scheduled based on the avaliability and schedule of the lecturer.
